MERAKA INSTITUTE

INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE

Most of our lives are spent indoors. Understanding the importance of space on the inhabitant, we ensure that experiences and interaction are most pleasurable.

MERAKA INSTITUTE

CSIR CAMPUS, PRETORIA

A complex refurbishment project that required the reconfiguration and design of both interior and exterior public spaces of an existing laboratory building on the CSIR Campus, Gauteng, to suit the needs of the Meraka Institute. Many of their staff live with disabilities which lead to the design of a covered accessible entrance, paraplegic friendly reception desk, flexible meeting room and auditorium with adjustable furniture and specialised auditory requirements, installation of a specialised lift and inclusion of additional paraplegic ablutions. New exterior break away spaces were created while Interior layouts were reconfigured to maximise client requirements. Vibrant colours were introduced to stimulate creativity and custom graphics commissioned to reflect the type of work undertaken by the Meraka Institute.
