Even as a youngster I had the dream of becoming an Architect, so after spending most of my young life in Alberton I left to attend the University of Pretoria to fulfil this wish. When I wasn't busy with my studies, I liked to keep busy by doing art, school plays and playing tennis. In 1977 I qualified with a B.Arch degree and after a short stint with a firm of Architects (most of which were Varsity lecturers) in Pretoria and Upington, I started my career with Burg Doherty Bryant + Partners in 1981. They were awarded the new Reserve Bank Head Office project in which I became intensely involved. I became an Associate in 1984 and in 1988 a Partner of one of the most prestigious architectural firms in Pretoria.
I married my beautiful wife, Charlotte in 1987 and we have two sons and a daughter. Even though my first love is and always will be Architecture, I still have a love for the dramatic and visual arts. I am a voracious reader, play a bit of squash in my free time and wouldn't exchange time in the bush with family and friends for anything.
